Eat This Not That – The Awakening

The hardest choices that we make are usually not at home. When we travel or are away from our home, it seems like that is when we can derail a program or a lifestyle change. Don’t get me wrong, you need to stray every once in a while to satisfy those cravings that you have. With that said, it should be every once in a while, and not daily.

When I started my lifestyle change, I had no idea what I was doing. I knew that it was calories in and calories out but at the time I wasn’t logging or paying attention to my consumption. I was just guessing. If it had grilled chicken on it, it must be ok. In reality some of the highest calorie items at major eateries are chicken dishes. I was in a Barnes and Noble one day and saw a book that really opened my eyes to what I was eating.
Eat This Not That           Eat This Not That was the book that I picked up that day. Thumbing though the pages and reading the examples and alternatives really turned me on to the reality that if I really wanted to change and lose the weight the right way, I had to make a concerted effort at knowing exactly what i was eating and what calorie count and nutrition information was contained in it. Preparation is key to any endeavor and if I did not care enough to prepare myself for those days when I wasn’t in my kitchen then I knew I would never succeed on the journey I wanted to take. So as I sat there reading through the pages I knew that I would be changing.

Mine was a Eat This Not That book years ago. In todays day and age with the invention of the smart phone this information is everywhere. You just have to go out there and look for it.
